The Onion: "Are America's Rich Falling Behind the Super Rich"

The video I watched on the onion was, "Are America's Rich Falling Behind the Super Rich?" In this video a group of panelist discussed the topic and debated on it. After watching I gained a better sense of how people spend too much time debating over issues concerning the rich and not enough time worrying about the poor. Often times our society looks over the lower class and spends too much time catering to the needs of the wealthy. While there are millions of people starving the rich debate over how big their swimming pool is, how large their houses are and how much taxes they have too pay. Compared to the growing problem of poverty in the world, these things seem ridiculous! In the video a group of panelist satirically addressed how ridiculous the petty complaints of the rich really are.

As a society I think it is our responsibility to be less concerned about the rich and pay closer attention to the widening gap between the poor and the rich. As the saying goes, "the rich just keep getting richer and the poor just keep getting poorer." However, it does not have to be like this. If the rich would for one second concern themselves with other things besides how large their houses are, they might find time to lend a helping hand to those who really need it. The video opened my eyes and made me realize more clearly that it is the people that are suffering that need our attention and support. Maybe if we gave them more there wouldn't be such a wide gap between the rich and the poor.
