My Thoughts

"Words don't have Meaning". I remember this phrase from an old friend in High School. As you can imagine, he didn't stay in honors too much longer. However, I think the point of this class is going to be to prove that quote wrong. As evidence of today's class, everything that we see has a significant and sometimes grand impact and yet is passed off in a discrete way. So, my hopes are that this class will explore the depths of the books/movies and find not just their entertainment value but the purpose of their creation.

Additionally, I expect that this class will help me hone my writing skills and to become an overall better writer. I have been considered a good writer in the past and took all the honors coursed and the AP course in high school and got an A in the Auburn basic english class. However, Purdue likes to take away credits, so I get to go for a round two! Additionally, I took 108 against the advice of my counselor because I saw an opportunity to improve myself. So I hope that this course will be not so much a challenge but certainly a learning experience.

In conclusion, the two things I wish to obtain out of this class is to have a good wealth of knowledge about the precision of using words and then to be able to write more persuasively and more concisely. Or in another word: Better. So, I hope that this semester is about proving that quote wrong and exploring the depths of creating a truly great argument.
