1st assignment, What do I think?

To tell you the truth, writing has always been a struggle for me. I'm told I'm good at it, but that doesn't mean I have to like it. I've always waited until the last minute to write term papers and essays and I never write just for fun. I've never kept a journal or diary and I would never start a blog. Writing has always been a thing I have to do, not a thing I want to do.

Now let me clarify, just because I don't like to write does not mean I don't like english, because I do. I've always loved reading and will dive in to any book I get my hands on. I love discussion and debate and thinking about "big" questions; I just don't like translating those thought on to the written page.

I am excited about this class because I think it will give me lots of opportunities to do the things I love, like reading and discussing, and, since there is an abundance of those things, I think the writing I have to do will be more bearable. I will list my thoughts book by book:

1. The Hours - I think this is going to be the most challenging of the books to get through. I tried to watch the movie once and I only go halfway through. I don't even remember what it was about, so that's not a good sign. I hope by reading the book, I can understand the movie better.

2. Fight Club - This is the book I am probably most excited for. I've never seen the movie, but I know the general premise. The movie is so well known and popular; it has to be good. I didn't even realize it was a book before it was a movie, so I'm excited to read it.

3. V for Vendetta - I've never read a graphic novel before, so that will be a new experience, and I haven't seen the movie either, but I really like Natalie Portman, the actress that plays the main character. She seems like a smart woman that takes her acting very seriously.

4. Brokeback Mountain - I've also never read a novella before, and I really don't know what to expect. Is it just the movie put into book format, or a continuation of the plot? I don't know. I've never seen this movie either, but obviously I've heard of it and know what it is about. I like the actors and actresses that are in this movie too.

I am well over 250 words, so I will wrap it up. In conclusion, I am really excited for this class and am looking forward to reading all of these books.
