ABC vs. MSNBC

I choose two articles that were talking about Obama and his recent speech on energy. The two articles were talking about the same speech, but had two totally different viewpoints. In my opinion, ABC was very republican and MSNBC leaned more democrat.

The title of the ABC article was "Obama on Light Bulbs." That title makes him sound like an idiot. They shrink down his whole speech and make it into something trivial and seemingly unimportant. I was surprised at how biased this article was. It's not as much telling the fact of the speech as it is making fun of Obama and his energy plans. They say his proposal is "thick with proposals that he says would cut greenhouse emissions by the carbon load." They also make fun of Hillary Clinton, quotig her saying something about how florescent lights would make her look bad in a swimsuit.

The MSNBC article is much more comprehensive. It is a much more unbiased article, even though it still has some liberal leanings. They mentioned how Obama blamed the energy crisis on timid politicians, suggesting that the current republican leaders are too tentative. They talk about his speech as a whole, and don't focus on just one piece. It focuses on Bush and how the think he has failed, and how Obama will fix things.

It's interesting to realize how the same story can be told two completely different ways. The slightest word or phrase can sway the whole article. I'm going to pay more attention to this from now on.
