As I browsed through the videos on theonion.com, I quickly came across one titled “Human Head Found in Hamburger.” This immediately caught my eye, and after watching it once, I was laughing my head off (no pun intended).
The video is a play off of all the other mishaps that have taken place inside fast food restaurants, from the finger in the chili at Wendy’s, to employees spitting on the hamburgers at McDonalds. In this story, a man found an eight-pound human head in between the lettuce and tomato of his hamburger at his local Burger King. However, rather than sue the company, the man simply said, “I’ll definitely come back to Burger King, because I love it so much and it’s really close to my house.”
The news story was presented really well as a video. The tone of voice from the reporter made it sound like a true story, but the humor that was directed obviously made it fake. Everything an employee or the customer said was humorous, which drew the viewer’s attention even more. The message was made very clear to the audience: How many times do we have to keep hearing stories about how unsanitary fast food places really are?
The video even ended with the manager of the Burger King saying “No, it’s not that bad at all compared to the horse head.”
Overall, the article was displayed very well. It kept the audience laughing, but the true message behind the humor is crystal clear.
